After a long incubation period of finely detailed planning, the first ninth grade students of Woods High School – seven of them - reported for class in Fall 1999.
Simultaneously, the Board of Trustees and staff began planning a new capital campaign to enable construction of a Woods High School Building, along with a new Upper Elementary Building and an additional Elementary Building.
By mid 2001, planning was well along and program leadership agreed on. Pre-announcement solicitation of key contributors began and the campaign was formally announced on April 12, 2003 with more than $800,000 pledged. This date coincided nicely with the celebration of the first Woods High School graduating class.
THE PLAN:
- Build two new classroom buildings at the Wirt Road Campus
- Acquire property for building Woods High School
- Phase I – Build 25,000-sf part of Woods High School
- Phase II – Build WHS Gymnasium and Theater for all ages
